Owner: Valero

Paving Area: 80,000 SF
What is now the SAWS headquarters, this facility was a suspended
structure constructed between two existing buildings. During
the pier drilling operation, methane gas was noticed along with
a layer of trash. It was brought to the contractors attention
that the site was used as a city dump prior to the commencement
of the project. Unfortunately, the layer of trash was not discovered
until the majority of the piers had been set. In order to alleviate
the problem and not damage the piers, M&M site crews carefully
excavated the contamination and replaced it with common fill.
Afterwards, crews backfilled around the building and constructed
new paving. |
