Project Overview
The original McCreless Mall was built in 1962 and throughout it’s history, it housed J.C.Penny, Woolworth and Montgomery Wards. The mall closed in 2005. The redevelopment of this south side landmark, included demolition of the mall and surrounding parking areas being completed to phases as to minimize the impact of new construction on the remaining onsite businesses. The new construction consisted of one of the first HEB Plus! stores, a movie theater and various retail and restaurant buildings. Much of the existing asphalt and underlying road base was recycled and used for building pad construction and new paving areas.
