Project Overview
HBGCC – 2013 was M&M’s third major project at San Antonio’s Convention Center, the last being completed in 2001. This section of the convention center is the crown jewel of a resurgence in downtown development. This project included 100,000 cubic yards of foundation excavation of and 200,000 tons of imported select fill as preparation for the new facility. The project required coordination with an adjacent highway project, as well as relocation of parking to facilitate the main project. As with most downtown work near the Alamodome, archeological issues and contaminated soils were encountered and had to be dealt with on a very public project.
